The first race of the weekend started of with a rough start with cars stalling and a car soaring though the air.  It was full of cautions and most of the race was under yellow.  #75 Brad Adams qualified for this race in the 8th position while finishing in the 8th position.  #25 Ben Crosland qualified in the 3rd position and finished in the 5th position.

The second race of the weekend was action packed in all three classes. #25 Ben Crosland started in the 5th position for this race and worked his way quickly up to the 1st place position. After several restarts Ben had held is position, but after losing the lead Ben touched the grass and moved back to the 6th position. As Ben worked his way back up the field he managed a podium finish in 3rd place. #75 Brad Adams started this race in the 10th position and finished indecent free in the 5th position.

After this double event there were no changes in overall standings with Ben Crosland still in 3rd place and Brad Adams in 5th place.

With over a month since the last World-Challenge races at Mosport where Ben had his first win of the season and Brad had some bad luck with the wall. The guys find their selfs in the 3rd and 5th overall positions with less than a 100 points separating them from the lead.

Thunder Bolt at NJMP

RacewithRP visited the Thunderbolt Raceway of New Jersey Motorsports Park this week for the tenth of eleventh race of the year. This is the fourth Grand-AM event of the year that the RacewithRP team has competed in this year.

Brad Adams qualified the #95 Ford Mustang in the 22nd place with the fastest lap of the weekend at a 1:32.765 during his second lap.

As Brad started the race off in twenty-second place everything went smooth until an off on lap thirteen. Followed by lap seventeen where the #30 ST Mazda 3 went off track. As the #30 was reentering the track Brad and the #30 made contact causing the #30 to spin and resulted in Brad breaking a Tie Rod. The corner workers had him pull towards the wall and allowed multiple laps to be completed before a double yellow was thrown and then allowed the wreckers were able to pull Brad to the Garage.

Brad Adams says “I should have not pulled towards the corner workers with the damage It had as it caused me to have to wait until the next double yellow was waived to be towed in”.

With two more yellows after the wreck it gave time for the RacewithRP.com Crew to get the Mustang back together. After repairs in the garage Ben Crosland takes over at the wheel. Ben is down 15 Laps with an hour and a half to go.

After a long race in the hundred degree weather along with 6 cautions for 24 laps, and 7 leaders. Ben Crosland brings the #95 Ford Mustang in the 18th place. This places RacewithRP.com in the 24th place for season.

The next race is back in the World-Challenge Series at Mid-Ohio. Where Ben Crosland holds third place overall. While Brad Adams holds fifth place over all for the season. With only four races left in the World-Challenge Series and less than a hundred points separating 3rd place from first it is anyones season.

With only a few laps on the fresh tires it should make for a great start of the Race.

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (July 9th, 2011) – The #95 Ford Mustang driving by Brad Adams and Ben Crosland visited the CONTINENTAL TIRE SPORTS CAR FESTIVAL POWERED BY MAZDA at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.  With the two rookie drivers Joining up from the World-Challenge.com series it setup to be a great weekend. Overall with some great strategies and a few mistakes by the RacewithRP.com team they ended up with a 17th out of 54th finishing position overall.

Brad Adams and Ben Crosland have been racing together for a while as a team in the Mustang Challenge series and the World-Challenge Series, however this is the first time they are racing in the Continental Tire series as co-drivers for the #95 Ford Mustang.

Brad Adams started in the drivers seat for the first stint of the race. Having started from the 27th position in the GS Class he had a lot of completion in front of him and 2.5 hours of race time to go. With some minor contact and overall great driving a yellow was thrown. Brad stayed out under the guidance of Jim Daniels, hoping for another yellow closer to the fuel window. The next yellow fell and Brad came in for a full pit stop and driver change to Ben Crosland while in the 17th position.

As the #95 entered the pits the crew jumped the wall, changed four tires, added fuel, and Brad and Ben swapped positions. As the crew finished up Ben struggled slightly with the wheel causing what looked like a little frustration, As Ben pulled out of the pits he went to the inside of the next teams tires on pit road but turned out early and clipped the two tires. There is a thirty second penalty for hitting another teams equipment so a black flag was to be served.

As the green was thrown Ben had one lap to race and then head to the pits to serve his penalty. While in the pits serving his penalty another yellow was thrown for a car off track.  This was luck, but good luck as this allowed Ben to keep on the lead lap.

As the race continued Ben made up positions until another yellow came out and Jim Daniels decided we would come in for a splash of fuel to prevent us from having to pit later on and have a chance to gain some valuable track position as others may have to pit later for fuel.
This early pit lead to a worry free finish to the end where Ben crossed the line in the 17th position.  This ended a great weekend and with only 3 Grand-AM events under the teams belt this year it was good to finish on the lead lap and in the top half of the field. This finish puts the RacewithRP.com team in the twenty-fifth position overall.

The kick-off to Mosport’s season features the World Challenge Series (GT, GTS & Touring) and the thundering muscle cars of the SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Series. The Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship kicks-off their 2011 campaign this weekend. New to Mosport in 2011 will be the SCCA Pro Spec Racer and the SCCA Pro Formula Enterprises. The Sundown Grand Prix endurance race-into darkness classic runs Saturday night.

Off-track fans can enjoy the annual Victoria Day fireworks which will light up the sky. Camping is a popular part of the Mosport experience and there will also be access to the paddock with driver autograph sessions and meet and greets.

 

We had a promoter test day Thursday allowing the team and driver three practice sessions to tune the setup.

Friday was the official World-Challenge practice and qualifying day.  For practice #25 Ben Crosland of the InterbankFX.com Ford Mustang FR500S turned a best lap of 2:02.850 for the 4th best lap time of the class. #75 Brad Adams of the The Voodo Experience Ford Mustang turning a best lap of 2:03.539 for the 7th best lap of the class. Qualifying was scheduled for Friday afternoon but as you looked over the mountains you could see the snow heading our way. As it got closer to time to qualify so did the snow.  Qualifying ended up canceled as the track was wet and visibility was very limited.  With the qualifying session canceled the race starting position was decided by Overall points order.  This placed #75 Brad Adams in the 6th starting position and #25 Ben Crosland in the 5th Starting Postion. Race day started out with cold temperature and another chance for snow. As it got closer to the race start the sun shined and temperatures raised slightly making for good race conditions. After the parade lap the World-Challenge Classes lined up for an interesting start.  As the cars took of from the start line a few were not so lucky. With a few vehicles stalling at the line it caused some mayhem and a bad wreck right past the start line(watch start here). Brad and Ben made the right decisions and reacted quickly avoiding any collisions. After the yellow flag waived they went to a single file restart. With a smooth finish from there and a few passes #25 Ben Crosland finished with a 5th place finish giving him his 2nd top 5 of the season.  #75 Brad Adams had a smooth race as well keeping a steady line and finishing 6th position.

Ben’s finish position suffered due to a malfunctioning clutch.  He missed a shift on the front straight and lost the lead pack draft.  This doomed Ben to the finish he posted.  Brad on the other hand had a great  recovery from the near collision and loss of momentum at the start to recapture all the spots he lost on the start and finish just behind Ben and closing.

After four races this season #75 Brad Adams is only 144 points behind the leader in the 6th position overall putting him only 10 points behind his teammate  #25 Ben Crosland.  This puts Ben in the 5th position overall only 134 points behind the leader. After four out of twelve races this is still anyones season.
